Rock Band

RockBand The studio behind Frequency, Amplitude, and the amazing Guitar Hero series, are working on a new game entitled Rock Band that may revolutionize the way you unleash your inner rock god. Expected this winter for the Xbox 360 and PS3 (possibly other platforms) should include guitar, bass, drums, and vocals with peripherals for each. They have announced that the guitar controller will be modeled after the Fender Stratocaster and that the equipment in the game will feature Fender, Roland and BOSS brands.

The official site now contains a ballot you can use to submit your own rock anthem suggestions to the game developers directly.

The story developing behind the game is interesting, as original developers Harmonix announced their new partnership with MTV and EA. There will be a Guitar Hero III released by Red Octane this holiday season, but it will be developed by Neversoft. Read about it and the new Les Paul Guitar controller here.

Battlestar Galactica News

Fourth and Final SeasonIf you don’t already watch this show, go out and find it. Easily one of the best shows on television right now, and the producers are planning on going out on top. The upcoming fourth season is apparently going to be the last. A smart decision considering it is a finite plot.

So this summer will be the release of the comic series, dealing with the main characters arriving on the Galactica just prior to the initial cylon attack.

Followed in November by the mini-series now referred to by the working title ‘Razor’, on the sci-fi channel and potentially straight to DVD, rumoured to be dealing with the events of the Battlestar Pegasus before they met up with the Galactica.

Then, ultimately in 2008, we’ll arrive at the fourth and final season, picking up from the huge cliffhanger at the end of season 3.

Neil Gaiman News

Quite possibly the greatest author of our time, and easily my own favourite has been busy, and here’s an update.

Death

DeathBased on the brilliant comic series Death: The High cost of Living but unfortunately retitled Death and Me, the movie is set to be adapted and directed by Gaiman himself, and produced by Guillermo del Toro.

All fantastic news, but makes me wonder why they don’t get the authors to adapt their own work more often… Garth Ennis doing the Punisher movie could have saved it… maybe.

StardustStardust - 08.10.07
Gaiman’s enchanting fairy tale is coming to the big screen August 10.07. Directed and adapted by Matthew Vaughn and starring Claire Danes and relative unknown Charlie Cox. Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro appear as well as ‘Lock,Stock’ alums Dexter Fletcher and Jason Flemyng.
Looks to be absolutely stunning in the visuals department, you can check out the trailer at the Official Site.Expectations are high on this one, as the talent involved and the source material are all superb. Seems they may actually get one right this time.

Beowulf

Beowulf
Coming this November is the CGI-animated fantasy adaptation of the world’s oldest recorded hero epic which has been garnering more attention recently.Gaiman wrote the screenplay with Roger Avary, and the movie is chock full of A-List talent such as Angelina Jolie , Anthony Hopkins , and John Malkovich. Ray Winstone as Beowulf and Crispin Glover as Grendel. The announcement site has been launched, and they recently announced that video games were in the works being developed by Ubisoft.

The Man in the JacketNeil Gaiman
Finally, a plug for the man himself. Check out his site with quite simply the most fantastic online journal ever. If I only had a jacket like his, perhaps I could be prolific as well. “The original Sandman leather jacket (1988-1995ish) was auctioned on eBay for the CBLDF, and made over $6000 at the time — and has made more since, I understand.”
Just finished reading Miracleman, by the way, and it is absolutely incredible. Read about the importance of supporting the Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.

Guitar Hero II – Xbox360

05.15.07

How in the hell am I supposed to get *anything* done?

Seriously.
This game is far too fantastic.

I’m still gloating over the ‘Eddie Van Halen’ achievement.

06.03.07 – Update

SweetnessInfo is released on the new Les Paul wireless controller for Xbox360. The controller is due out in conjunction with the release of Guitar Hero III, but some alleged footage has been leaked of Weezer’s ‘My Name is Jonas’ and Foghat’s ‘Slow Ride’ .

Now, will any of this matter with some stiff competition from the originator of GH Harmonix releases their potentially ground-breaking Rock Band? With the support of MTV and cash-powerhouse EA could make this a contender.
