Neil Gaiman News
Quite possibly the greatest author of our time, and easily my own favourite has been busy, and here’s an update.
Death
Based on the brilliant comic series Death: The High cost of Living but unfortunately retitled Death and Me, the movie is set to be adapted and directed by Gaiman himself, and produced by Guillermo del Toro.
All fantastic news, but makes me wonder why they don’t get the authors to adapt their own work more often… Garth Ennis doing the Punisher movie could have saved it… maybe.
Stardust
Gaiman’s enchanting fairy tale is coming to the big screen August 10.07. Directed and adapted by
Matthew Vaughn and starring
Claire Danes and relative unknown
Charlie Cox.
Michelle Pfeiffer, and
Robert De Niro appear as well as
‘Lock,Stock’ alums
Dexter Fletcher and
Jason Flemyng.
Looks to be absolutely stunning in the visuals department, you can check out the trailer at
the Official Site.Expectations are high on this one, as the talent involved and the source material are all superb. Seems they may actually get one right this time.
Beowulf

Coming this November is the CGI-animated fantasy adaptation of the
world’s oldest recorded hero epic which has been garnering
more attention recently.Gaiman wrote the screenplay with
Roger Avary, and the movie is chock full of A-List talent such as
Angelina Jolie ,
Anthony Hopkins , and
John Malkovich.
Ray Winstone as Beowulf and
Crispin Glover as Grendel. The
announcement site has been launched, and they recently announced that video games were in the works
being developed by Ubisoft.
The Man in the Jacket
Finally, a plug for
the man himself. Check out his site with quite simply
the most fantastic online journal ever. If I only had a jacket like his, perhaps I could be prolific as well. “The original Sandman leather jacket (1988-1995ish) was auctioned on eBay for the CBLDF, and made over $6000 at the time — and has made more since, I understand.”
Just finished reading
Miracleman, by the way, and it is
absolutely incredible. Read about
the importance of supporting the
Comic Book Legal Defense Fund.
