Beowulf & Grendel

Starring: Gerard Butler, Stellan Skarsgard, Sarah Polley
Interesting, but overall unimpressive. Low production value is outweighed by stunning locations, and the performances help keep this watchable. Roughly comparable to Branagh’s Frankenstein.

Tristram Shandy: A Cock & Bull Story

Starring: Steve Coogan, and Scully(? Yes, Scully)
The notoriously unfilmable movie. Classic novel written centuries before it’s time, and is a stream-of-consciousness jumble of ideas and insights. The movie does the same. What begins as an adaptation of the novel, degrades into a mockumentary style examination of the star and the production.
