Pulse

The trailer indicates that this is another standard teen horror flick a la Scream and the like.  Despite this I went to see it and was pleasantly surprised.

Miami Vice (2006)

Starring: Colin Farrell, Jamie Foxx, and Justin Theroux
They didn’t even use the theme song. Calling this movie an adaptation of the 80’s TV show is comparable to the similarity between Saving Private Ryan and Hogan’s Heroes.
Apparently bad camera work and a ‘gritty’ feel makes it authentic, and the lack of opening credits [...]

My Super Ex-Girlfriend

Starring: Uma Thurman, Luke Wilson, and Anna Faris
Honestly, more fun than I had expected.
Super-hero comedies are usually dead in the water, and this is even a super-hero romantic comedy to boot, but the saving grace is in Reitman’s experience and wit.
