Kid’s Stuff

My DVD purchases of late are primarily kid’s stuff. Most recently I added Season 2 of Justice League and Volume 3 of Superman: The Animated Series. Superman Returns pushed up the production on these ones as Season 1 and Volume 2 of each series came out not too long ago (and also Season 1 of Batman Beyond at that time). As an aside, all of these series come highly recommended, including Batman: The Animated Series as well. The Teen Titans and the simply titled The Batman are current good shows too, but I digress.

I’ve also caught up on my Simpsons seasons. Yes, I know its almost passé to care about the Simpsons any more. The boxsets of the seasons are required in the collection of the hard core fans. Best feature is commentary on all episodes. A rarity for most other shows.

Just today I watched Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I bought it a while ago because Zeller’s had it for under $10, then I realized I hadn’t watched it again since I saw it at the theatre. Good movie that.

Other recent additions to the collection are more adult in nature but not that adult in nature. I bought a couple of used movies at Blockbuster’s Semi-Annual Clearance Sale. I’d shamelessly promote it as a great way to get some cool movies on the cheap but all the really good movies would be snapped up by the employees without even hitting the shelf. A lot of the not so great movies would be snapped up also. In my case I picked up Silent Night Deadly Night DVD Double Feature which has Part 1 and 2 on it, each with commentary and the original script via DVD-ROM. (I love Anchor Bay). Only $4.99 before discount by the way. I also got Lone Wolf and Cub: Baby Cart in the Land of Demons. For $2.99 (before discount) do I even need to explain further than the title alone.

I’m pretty much tapped out until next paycheck but it seems I’ll have to save up for some stuff according to the new trade magazine. Simpsons Season 8, The Tick (finally), Arrested Development Season 3, even Darkwing Duck looks inviting. I’m way too behind on South Park to start thinking about Season 8’s release. And I was also greeted to an ad for a Superman Animated Series straight-to-DVD movie upon first watch of my new Justice League DVDs (what’s the hold up on those Futurama straight-to-DVD movies/episodes?).

Oh well, if anyone finds my spending habits remotely interesting I’ll keep you posted. Incidently, I also buy things other than DVDs. As this is the Flim Geeks Blog it would be better to contact me directly for any non-movie info.
