Movies That Shouldn’t Have Sucked #001

Ultraviolet

Directed by Kurt Wimmer (who brought us the absolutely brilliant Equilibrium) had problems with the studio, and ultimately lost final cut and complete control over this movie.

“The film was taken out of director ‘Kurt Wimmer’ ’s hands and completely reedited by the studio after they saw the original version which they apparently did not like; they saw it as ‘too emotional’ for the action film they were expecting and reedited it so there would be more of an emphasis on the action and to cut it down to a PG-13 rating.” (from Imdb)
While nothing too original, it did have some potential for frenetic action, and enough eye-popping visuals to put you into anaphylactic shock.

But, instead we get a vomitous mess of nonsensical crap mashed together in a PG-rated mess. And potentially putting a stop to a stylish young directors career.
