News from Comic-Con 2006

The year’s biggest gathering of comic-book geeks has become much more interesting to geeks of other media and genres.
Some news & rumours from this year’s fest:

Sam Raimi confirms Venom (Topher Grace) and Sandman (Thomas Haden Church) as villains, but not Hobgoblin in Spider-Man 3. Harry Osborn (James Franco) will apparently be some new villain. He also confirmed a love-triangle between Peter, Mary Jane and Gwen Stacey (Bryce Dallas Howard). Gasp.

Jon Favreau, director of Iron Man (2008) has spoken about ol’ Shell-head’s new flick. Check out the article from IGN FilmForce

An update on Neil Gaiman’s film adaptations in the works. Article also from IGN Flimforce

Zack Snyder (Dawn of the Dead remake) revealed more of his adaptation of Frank Miller’s 300. Impressive details here

Quentin Tarantino talks of a Kill Bill anime, and his upcoming project with Robert Rodriguez Grind House.

The newly formed Marvel Studios has announced 3 new movies, Captain America, Nick Fury, and then a Thor movie.

Lost has even more surprises for season 3 (does this need a spoiler warning?), and McFarlane Toys debuts a new line of toys.

News and Revelations on the third season of Battlestar Galactica. Mmmm… Cylon goodness.

New footage and announcements from the new NBC show Heroes.

Peter Cullen (voice of the original cartoon Optimus Prime) has been announced as the voice of Optimus Prime in the new Transformers movie, apparently as a result of fans speaking out. At worst, it seems Michael Bay has made at least one right decision so far.
