The Fountain

The Fountain

Still trying to wrap my head around this one, but what I can divulge is that this could be one of the greatest of the year. I remember reading ages ago that Darren Aronofsky was working on a sci-fi movie (then titled ‘Last Man’) that had something to do with the fountain of youth. Well, that doesn’t even begin to describe what you’ll experience with this film.

Beautiful, stunning, and masterfully shot, this is and all-out feast for the senses with some creative story-telling. The bare-bones DVD is a damn shame, but this is definitely a movie you need to see, probably multiple times.
Recent news: Darren Aronofsky is not pleased with how the DVD was released, referring to the entire process as a ’struggle’. He plans to try and release the movie as part of the Criterion Collection, and may even be releasing a downloadable commentary. Read the tidbit from his MySpace blog
